Country In The Caribbean

Many BMI songwriters and artists traveled to the 3rd Annual Country in the Caribbean, which took place Jan. 13-14. Anguilla hosted Grammy Award-winning and 2006 BMI Country Songwriter of the Year Vicky McGehee ("All Jacked Up"), Wendell Mobley ("Fast Cars and Freedom"), Chuck Jones ("Cadillac Ranch"), James Slater ("In My Daughter's Eyes"), Chuck Cannon ("How Do You Like Me Now") and Rivers Rutherford ("When I Get Where I'm Going"), along with three-time Grammy nominee Pat Green ("Wave on Wave"), for two nights of intimate acoustic shows attended by native islanders and tourists. All proceeds from the event help local children in Anguilla head to college in the United States. So far, four students have paid their tuition with funds generated by the festival.
