The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s John McEuen is asking friends to donate items to an eBay auction to benefit POCO singer/drummer George Grantham who suffered a severe stroke and is unable to tour. Grantham’s daughter Gracie is running the campaign called Putting Heads Together, and is collecting items for the auction to pay for Grantham’s medical and living expenses. Reading, Writing & Rhythm founder Chely Wright began her 2007-08 donation campaign last Thursday at Hattie Cotton Elementary School in Nashville. Robbins Nashville artist Rockie Lynne performed at the Republican Straw Poll in Ames, IA. During the nationally televised program Lynne and his band sang the national anthem and "Red, White and Blue," his tribute to the American troops. The performance was sponsored by Bono's not-for-profit organization to eradicate world poverty, One.org. They also shared a dressing room with Speaker Newt Gingrich.
