Her And Kings County Join BLA

Her And Kings County recently signed with Buddy Lee Attractions (BLA) for booking representation. The group from New York is fronted by Monique, backed-by producer/engineer/musician Caleb Sherman, Nick DiPierro (bass), Brother Love (drums), a wonder (lead guitar), and Justin Sherman (guitar). Her And Kings County has two independent recording projects currently in circulation, City-Country and 1609.

Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart will hit the road this fall for a tour reprising their successful early ‘90s No Hats outing. The duo will serve up acoustic renditions of the hits they enjoyed together, such as "The Whiskey Ain't Workin'," "This One's Gonna Hurt You (For a Long, Long Time)" and "Honky-Tonkin's What I Do Best," along with songs from their individual catalogs. Already scheduled dates include November stops in California, Arizona, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Landowner Holding Out On Music Row Developers

The city of Nashville began eminent domain proceedings last week to seize the property at 23 Music Circle East, reports the Tennessean. A Houston-based commercial developer has offered property owner Joy Ford $900,000 for the piece of land which houses Country International Records, the newspaper says. As previously reported in Music Row, the Lionstone Group wants to build a $100 million mixed-use facility between Demonbreun and Division streets, at the Music Row Roundabout. The property would include a hotel, offices, shops and condos.

Milt Laughlin has been named BMI's Sr. VP, Operations and Information Technology. He is based in Nashville and has been working as VP, Operations and Information Technology since 2001. Laughlin first joined BMI in 1994 as Sr. Dir., Information Technology, following management positions held during 23 years with Capitol/EMI Music and five years with MCA Music Entertainment Group in Los Angeles. Laughlin has been handling the day-to-day responsibilities of the Operations and IT department since the appointment of Bob Barone to Managing Director of Landmark Digital Services in April 2007.

The 21st Annual Music Row Ladies Golf Tournament, held Monday, June 16 at the Old Natchez Country Club, raised over $40,000 for United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee. Sponsored by ASCAP, Tim McGraw, UMG Nashville and UBS, the tournament brought together over 400 music industry professionals and celebrities. Photographer Alan L. Mayor was recognized with the 2008 Director’s Award for his longtime volunteer contributions to the event.

Artists participating as players and caddies included
Whitney Duncan, Amy Grant, Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes, Julie Roberts, songwriters Deanna Bryant, Dave Berg and Marla Cannon-Goodman, as well as Titans players Keith Bulluck and Craig Hentrich. Music Row executives in attendance included UMG Nashville chairman Luke Lewis, ASCAP Sr. VP Connie Bradley, CMA CEO Tammy Genovese, and 821 Entertainment President Anastasia Brown.

Caitlin Lynn and Will Snyder, winners of CMT's Can You Duet, join host Lance Smith on this week's episode of CMT'S Top 20 Countdown. As the winners, Caitlin & Will left the competition with a recording contract from Sony BMG Nashville. Their debut single “Even Now” is available for exclusive download at CMT.com and will be released to country radio later this year.
