Taylor Swift Goes On Road With George Strait

Taylor Swift has scored the opening spot on George Strait's 2007 arena tour. She joins previously announced special guest Ronnie Milsap on the tour which kicks off at the Cajundome in Lafayette, La. on Jan. 11 and runs through March 3. The 16-year-old singer-songwriter said in a prepared statement, "I couldn't imagine anything more thrilling than to be on a tour with George Strait. Just last week I was at the CMA Awards watching him be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and this week I received word that I would be on the tour with him. This is surreal!"

Carolina Rain Makes Opry Debut

Equity Music Group's Carolina Rain made their Grand Ole Opry debut late last month and have been invited back on Nov. 18 to perform on the GAC live broadcast. Charlie Louvin’s First Album In Ten Years

Charlie Louvin, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and half of the former duo The Louvin Brothers, will release his first album in over ten years on Feb., 20 on New York City’s Tompkins Square label. The album features guest appearances by Elvis Costello, Jeff Tweedy, Will Oldham, Tom T. Hall, George Jones, Bobby Bare Sr., Tift Merritt, Marty Stuart, David Kilgour and others. The album also features a tribute to his late brother Ira, who was the other half of the duo.

Tracy Lawrence Mission Possible

The First Annual Tracy Lawrence Mission Possible: The Love event will take place at the Nashville Rescue Mission on Mon., Nov. 20. The Thanksgiving event will help create awareness and support for the Mission, which feeds an average of 1,300 people a day. Located at 639 Lafayette St., the event will begin at 7 a.m. in the Mission’s parking lot when they begin frying one hundred turkeys for the homeless. Lawrence comments “We want local residents to come by, throw us a wave or toss out a “hello” and drop off canned food items, clothing, personal items or cash donations.” Visit www.nashvillerescuemission.org for details.

CMT.com Sets New Records

CMT.com’s online coverage of the 40th Annual CMA Awards set new records for the site, including multiple single day and week long records for unique visitors, streams and page views. Total unique visitors for the week were up 55% over the previous site record. In addition, CMT’s new broadband player Loaded garnered 2.6 million streams for the week, up 19% over the prior record. Top content for the week on CMT Loaded included the addition of a daily newscast CMT News Now, along with live streaming coverage of the CMA Awards Red Carpet.
