I feel I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing,” says Billy Gilman. “I know not everyone will agree that a young kid like me should be making records, but then they don’t know me.” Gilman exploded on the scene last year with his first single, “One Voice,” and his million-plus selling debut album of the same title. In 2001 he continues his musical dream with the release of his highly anticipated sophomore country album Dare to Dream. “I’ve never experienced a vocalist like Billy,” says co-producer David Malloy. “Over this last year, Billy has learned control and nuances with his vocals that usually take years to master. He’s learned how to take a song and make it his own.” Malloy’s sentiments have been shared by many other music lovers who have been vocal in their praise of the young singer’s musical gifts including singer Vince Gill who marvels, “Whether he’s a kid or not, he’s legitimately a great singer.”
