All well and good. Maybe some day the CMA will recognize the role my grandfather, John A. Lomax, uncle Alan and aunt, Bess Lomax Hawes, have played in the preservation and promotion of country music over the last 100 years, beginning with the publication of COWBOY SONGS in 1910.
But I'm not holding my breath.

This is an excellent article, I wish a lot of artists would read this.

Some of the larger name artists really have superb admins that are constantly updating their facebook and twitter accounts--it's great, and they know how to make it not quite overwhelming--- all while keeping fans involved.

One thing on the Social Networking sites= and I'll use an artist mostly that I deeply adore and follow on both facebook and twitter- Patty Loveless. I'm certain there's others like it, but Patty's was just who popped into my mind.

Patty's management runs her twitter, facebook and myspace, as it's relatively obvious by the tweets. Well, to most of us anyway. They don't "say" it's not really her. There was one tweet that I believe she made. Others are generic "I posted new tour dates. I posted a video on youtube. I updated my website". I have recently started following Sugarland on Twitter. Their staff adds whose posting to each tweet so no confusion is brought onto their fans. IE; if Shani posts, she's sure to say it's her, if Jennifer or Kristian post, they'll be sure to say it's them. I wish more artists would jump on that. The generic's "I posted..." make it so impersonable that I don't even want to follow the artist anymore. LeeAnn Womack is another that is clear when it's her, or her assistant. (And she's heavily involved in her twitter account, and has a lot of fun with her fans on it!)

Thanks, Sammi. I worked closely with Kenny and Aloompa developing the app. We had it in production for over six months and built everything from scratch. I knew the fans would like it, but had my doubts whether everyone would realize exactly how much work went into it, but the feedback has been incredibly positive. Seems like folks are just tossing out apps for the sake of having an app, but we really wanted ours to be functional and offer something more than just a mobile version of a stripped down website. Integrating the Twitter client and No Shoes Radio was a hell of a task, but we decided long ago we'd rather have the best app than the first app.

Anyhow, this feedback is really nice to hear. Glad you're enjoying it.

I don't think my last comment got posted.

Anyway I saw Kennys app the other week and loved it. I was hoping taylor would follow up with something just like it but then I downloaded it. I was so excited at first, but it isn't anything like his. Am I the only one that thinks it? Maybe taylor got the idea from kenny and put it together real fast.

Updated your app taylor and it will be great!

love yah!

A few months ago on either "60 Minutes" or "20/20" in a show about Alan Jackson, it was mentioned that Alan uses a very intuative software program to help him shape up his songs. Does anyone know which program he uses. There are so many out there.
