The Nashville Humane Association’s 18th Annual Dog Day Festival will be held Sat., Oct. 13 at Centennial Park. The fundraiser will have live music from 10 AM until 4 PM featuring Keith Bryant, Minnie Murphy, Chris Wallin, Jon McConnell, Andrea Pearson, and Jamie White. LifeWorks Foundation presents Carriage House Music Series III (CHMS III) to benefit the Belle Meade Plantation on Wed., Oct. 17. Performing will be legendary Bill Anderson, along with Jimmy Dean, Donna Meade Dean, Don Schlitz, Thom Schuyler and a surprise guest who ranks among the greatest in country music. Tickets, $35 in advance, includes food by the Loveless Cafe and complimentary beverages. This is the last 2007 segment of the songwriting series held in the 1890’s Carriage House at the Plantation, but it will return in 2008.
Montgomery Gentry will play the 4th Annual Kenny Beard & Friends Writers in the Round Tues., Oct. 16 to benefit the Mt. Juliet Christian Academy. The show at 7 PM in the school’s gymnasium also includes Paul Overstreet, Jeff Bates and newcomer Aly Cutter. Tickets can be purchased for $20 at the Mt. Juliet Christian Academy.
The Country Radio Broadcasters (CRB) is seeking donations of artist items to include in its CMT.com auction to support the Country DJ and Radio Hall of Fame. John Mellencamp, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The Black Crowes, Tim O'Brien, Bettye LaVette and many others contributed tracks to the new Song of America project. The 50-song, three-CD set traces the history of our country through new versions of culturally significant songs. The project was compiled by former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, Grammy-nominated producer David Macias and producer/musician Ed Pettersen. All proceeds benefit National History Day, Folk Alliance, The Center for American Music, and The Americana Music Association.
