Thom Shepherd, co-writer of hits including “Redneck Yacht Club,” is running for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year. To raise funds for the charity, via his campaign, he is hosting a golf tournament on Tues., May 8 at Hermitage Golf Course. Interested players should contact him ASAP at twangthang@gmail.com. Cost is $150 per person or $550 for a team of four.

The 9th Annual Jammin’ to Beat the Blues benefit for the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee will be held at 7 p.m. on Thurs., April 12. Performing at the fundraiser at the Ryman Auditorium will be Kathy Mattea, Taylor Swift, Riders In The Sky, and The Wrights. Hosting the concert are Nan Kelley (GAC’s Grand Ole Opry Live!) and Alan Dysert (All My Children). Tickets are $29.50 and $14.75 (ages 4-11) through Ticketmaster and the Ryman box office. www.ichope.com
