Radio veteran and Country Music DJ Hall of Famer Billy Cole passed away March 8 at age 47. Most recently, Cole had been broadcasting a Sunday night classic country show for MR Reporter KMGO/Centerville, Iowa. A memorial service will be held Mon., March 12 at Hamilton South Town Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bidding has begun at www.CMTAuctions.com for Bomshel’s “Wicked Women Of Tequila Rose” Chopper. The custom motorcycle, built by Wicked Women Choppers, dons the signatures of over 50 country stars including Big & Rich, Carrie Underwood, and Gretchen Wilson. Bomshel will announce the winner on March 24 during their show in Grand Rapids, MI. All proceeds from the auction benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. www.karmanos.org

Thirty Tigers Music will sponsor a benefit concert 8 p.m. Sat., April 7 at the Basement to help children in northern Ugandan refugee camps integrate into a national Ugandan music, dance and drama festival. The festival is organized by The Kampala Project under the Office of Active Citizenship and Service at Vanderbilt University. Warm in the Wake, Hotpipes, Funkwrench, DJ D-Funk, and Left Can Dance will perform. Tickets are available at Grimey's New and Preloved Music (1604 8th Ave. S) for $20.
