FCC Approves Application To Control SiriusXM
The Federal Communications Commission has given its approval for Liberty Media Corp. to assume broadcast licenses from SiriusXM Radio, Inc. according to a press release from Liberty Media on Thursday (Jan. 3).
SiriusXM uses satellites licensed by the FCC, so approval is required for Liberty to complete its intended takeover.
Liberty expects the transfer of control of SiriusXM to be complete within 60 days.
In 2008, Sirius merged with XM Satellite Radio.
